Hello,
I'm the Owner and operator of NMK online. I grew up in Minnesota in the 60's and
70's following local dirt track racing in Sauk Centre and Alexandria. My favorite driver
was Mick Engle whose car is featured on my home page. This led me to follow
NASCAR in the early to mid 70's. I started building models around 10 years of age. I
was a Richard Petty fan and also became a Rusty Wallace fan after watching him run
some ASA races covered by ESPN in the late 70's to early 80's. In 1983 I moved to
Nashville Tennessee and attended my first NASCAR race at the Nashville Raceway in
1984. I attended both races that year and then to my dismay the two annual race's
were discontinued in 1985. Although I continued to follow NASCAR I let my model
building lapse (unintentional pun) :) for many years until I tore up my knee playing
soccer in 1990. With the time I had during my rehab I again started building and
collecting NASCAR models. I attended my first NASCAR Superspeedway race at the
Talladega Superspeedway on July 28, 1991. On August 5, 2000 I attended the 7th
Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was the first time to attend a
race at the Brickyard. On April 14, 2001 I attended the NEW Nashville
Superspeedway which opened it's doors with a Bucsh Series race. With the new track
Nashville is hoping for the return of the Sprint Cup Series soon. On August 4, 2001 I
attended the 20th annual Kroger 200 Busch race at Indianapolis Raceway Park. On
August 5, 2001 I attended the 8th Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
I plan on attending the Brickyard yearly for sometime to come. On June 16, 2002 I
attended the Michigan 400 at the Michigan International Speedway for the first time.
On March 9, 2003 I made my first trip to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and other than
the traffic had a great time. June 5th, 2003 brought my second trip to the Michigan
International Speedway. On May 29, 2004 I attended the Lowe's Motor Speedway for
the first time with the Busch Series race watching from the Suites. Then on May 30,
2004 attended the Coca-Cola 600, this is a definate test of physical ability for the
drivers. On August 28, 2004 I had real treat as I attended the Bristol Motor Speedway
for the first time and watched from the suites, something I could definately get used
to. On July 2, 2005 I attended the Pepsi 400 at the Daytona International Speedway
for the first time and other than the rain delay it was a great race. Tony Stewart
climbed the flag stand for the first time. On April 2, 2006 I attended Martinsville
Speedway for the first time. This is a great place to watch a race. On May 5, 2007* I
attended the Richmond International Raceway for the first time. Another excellent
track to watch a race. I sat in the new Commonwealth Tower, what a view! The
Saturday night race was rained out however and was run on Sunday afternoon May
6. On May 29, 2011 I attended my first Indianapolis 500, I know this is not a NASCAR
race but it's the Indy 500, very cool! On July 9, 2011 I attended the Inaugural Cup
race at the Kentucky Speedway. They had issues here that day getting everyone
parked. I got to within 15 miles of the track 5 hours before the race was to start and
to the entrance at the start of the race. But actually got to my seat at the half way
point of the race. Because of this I did get free tickets to the Texas Motor Speedway
for the Nov. 6, 2011 race. Below is the complete list of Cup races I've attended. This
is to be continued so stay tuned!!
